Just a bit of extra fat in the upper throat area will create the presence of a "double chin" that may be unwanted to both women and men. The additional pockets of fat below the chin (or the submental area) can be caused by genetics, weight fluctuations, or aging that lead to a softer jawbone and chin for a less defined profile. Dr. Saoly Benson is happy to provide a revolutionary technique to reduce neck fat at The Art of Braces in Las Vegas, NV. Approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), Kybella is a new nonsurgical option for upper neck fat. The active component in Kybella is a synthetically made version of deoxycholic acid, which works similarly like the body's natural DA to dissolve and absorb fat cells. After it has been injected beneath the chin, you can see a visible decrease in the amount of fat. When the fat is removed, the cells will not regenerate so you can enjoy your new slender neck and defined jawline for years to come.
The ideal candidates for Kybella injectable treatments have unwanted fat in the upper throat (submental area), which creates a double chin or unwanted volume. This injection corrects resistant areas of fat that can't be removed with common weight loss techniques due to genetics, aging, and several other conditions. If you are near a healthy, stable weight, but exercise and diet have not been able to eliminate the fat in your submental area, Kybella may be the correct option for your goals.

"They do the very best job on working on my braces as well as having such nice and amazing staff. I have seen great improvement to my teeth, especially because whenever I have a bracket that has broken off, they are one text away from scheduling me to get it fixed."- L.J. / Yelp / Feb 09, 2021

"I highly recommend the art of braces . The girls are all so kind and detail oriented with what they do, I always feel like I’m in safe hands. My smile has never been more beautiful thanks to the treatment Dr. Benson chose for me, my braces have been on for maybe 4-5 months and my teeth have already straightened significantly. This lady knows what she’s doin. Also this goes without saying, out of the technicians a girl that stands out, and goes above and beyond to make me feel welcomed is Sarah Joy! She’s so enthusiastic about the progress my teeth make, and she is always so kind and pleasant to talk to. I can tell she genuinely cares and that means a lot to me! I’ve had nothing but great experiences at my appointments, I look forward to the rest!"- M.C. / Facebook / Dec 24, 2020

What to Expect
Kybella is done during an appointment in our clinic. Dr. Benson will typically apply a numbing gel to the injected area, if desired, once the skin is clean. The procedure lasts around 15 minutes, which comprises of many small injections into the upper neck area. Most patients require 2-3 sessions, sometimes up to 6, spaced 6 weeks apart.
Injections of Kybella don't need general anesthesia so you are allowed to leave our office when you are ready to return to your daily routine. You may notice short-term swelling, numbness, or bruising below your chin, although this shouldn't last more than a few days. Contact The Art of Braces right away if you are noticing any unusual symptoms, including difficulty swallowing, facial muscle weakness, or if your facial expressions are uneven. While the fat that is eliminated do not regenerate, the cells left over can grow larger so you need to keep a stable weight after your Kybella treatments to keep new pockets of fat from developing. Ideal results after this procedure leave your neck appearing tighter and slimmer and your neckline will be better defined.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Kybella cost?
Kybella treatment costs will vary based on how many appointments you need. In your initial consultation, a personalized treatment plan will be made to match your goals. Dr. Benson will also review the payments we accept in your first appointment.
How does Kybella work?
Deoxycholic acid, the active ingredient in Kybella, is designed to break down fat cells in the upper neck. Once the fat cells are eliminated, these cells cannot regenerate. This is why more injections shouldn't be needed as soon as you have met your goal.
Can Kybella be used to treat other areas of the body?
Right now, Kybella may only be used to treat the upper neck. Kybella can effectively minimize the fat in the upper neck that creates the appearance of a double chin. Kybella isn't approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for any other areas of the face or body.
Am I eligible for a Kybella treatment?
Before your consultation, you will answer a few questions to make sure you are a candidate for Kybella treatments. You need to be at least 18 years old, not breastfeeding or pregnant, and you should not have an active infection in or around your neck. Before the process begins, you are encouraged to be open about your medical history and health concerns so Dr. Benson can determine if you may be at risk for an adverse reaction from the treatment.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
At your initial consultation, a personalized injection plan will be created to match your goals. Usually, patients get between two and four Kybella injections to achieve their goals. Kybella appointments need to be made around 30 days apart. You shouldn't receive any more than six injections.
