Overview

For faster tooth movement and less discomfort during your orthodontic treatment, board-certified orthodontist Dr. Saoly Benson offers in-office treatments with the Propel Excellerator. The Propel Excellerator creates manual micro-osteoperforations, also known as "dental dimples." The micro-osteoperforations stimulate blood flow and cytokines to the treated area that help bone remodeling and tooth movement. Used with braces or removable aligners, the Propel Excellerator can shorten treatment time and helps to decrease discomfort. To learn more about adding a treatment with the Propel Excellerator to your braces or removable aligners, schedule a consultation with Dr. Benson at her practice, The Art of Braces, in Las Vegas, NV.

Best Candidates

The Propel Excellerator can help with your regular orthodontic treatment, whether you are using removable aligners, clear ceramic braces, Traditional Metal Braces, or Hidden braces. The Excellerator may be recommended by Dr. Benson if you have an open bite, crossbite, a deep bite, crowded teeth, or large gaps between your teeth. During your initial orthodontic consultation, Dr. Benson will discuss adding the Propel Excellerator to your regular treatment for faster tooth movement.

What to Expect

Your Excellerator treatment can be performed during your regular appointment. First, Dr. Benson will have you rinse your mouth with chlorhexidine (an antiseptic). Next, she will apply local anesthesia to numb the treatment areas. Once your mouth is clean and prepared, Dr. Benson will use the Excellerator to create dental dimples at the appropriate depth for your needs. The process should only take a few minutes.

Recovery

After your Excellerator treatment, you may have minor bleeding and inflammation in your gums. You may take over-the-counter acetaminophen (Tylenol), but you should not take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs, like Advil or Aspirin). A single treatment with Propel Excellerator is usually enough for most patients. However, some patients may need multiple treatments, scheduled 6 – 8 weeks apart. After your first treatment, Dr. Benson will assess your results and determine if more treatments are needed.

Insurance Coverage

Dr. Benson will discuss the cost of adding a Propel Excellerator treatment during your initial consultation. To make it easier to afford this advanced treatment, The Art of Braces accepts many payment methods and we offer no-interest financing with flexible payment plans. If you have dental insurance with orthodontic benefits, our office will contact your provider to determine if your Propel Excellerator treatments are covered.
